Cast Away

Had a dinner appointment with someone this evening. Ended up eating by myself.

Someone was unable to come because she could not find any modes of transportation! She missed the last bus. She was unwilling to walk to the nearest MTR station because of the heavy rain. And she was unable to call a cab (probably because of the rain too). She felt so abandoned.

四美

Went to a lunch seminar today to take a nap. I betted I knew more than the speaker.

遐想: If I could have 4 wives, I thought a wonderful choice would be the 4 women as described in my article "What a Day!" on 25-Apr. 四美: 蘭+鳳+N+C.

PS: 四美 (Simei) is one of the MRT station in Singapore.

Unreasonable

Spent some time this evening to search for coins in yahoo.hk's 拍賣場 . When I reached the final stage of bidding, I got a message saying the seller would not accept a bid from someone without positive feedback. Why? In HK, we will do the business on a cash-on-delivery basis. What is the risk to the seller?

What a Day!

Took a day off today. Went to meet 蘭 in the morning. Disappointed as she seemed not to be particulary interested in my best offer. I had made my point "只能做, 不能拖" very clear.

Back to HK and felt very hungry. Went to 再興 to enjoy its famous 燒肉. After that, went to Haagen Dazs to enjoy its afternoon tea set. Yummy! But 硬漢 said I was committing suicide.

Anyway, I really felt very full. So, I decided to squeeze some time out for running in Happy Valley.

Had a Thai dinner with 鳳 and 大衛 in Hong Kong Park. We talked about many things. I love this kind of gathering.

N helped cleansing my face before going to bed.

Dreamed of C at night!

雷電交加

Last night, the thunder and the lightning kept N awake. And she kept me awake to accompany her. Because she was afraid!!! My goodness! Can someone shows her how strong a woman can be? Joyce, where are you?

茗茶

Today tried many different types of tea in SZ, including the rare 安吉白茶. 硬漢 enjoyed the process very much. I must admit I didn't know how to appreicate it. 牛嚼牡丹!

The gang of four met again. The last time was months ago. I guess such kind of gathering will not happen any more.

少年股神

Recently, a widely discussed headline is about an univeristy student earning $4 million at the age of 23. Good trading/investment strategies or pure luck? No comments.

Asked 硬漢 to go for the IPO of Dalian Port and follow the market trend. "只要信, 不要問。"

High Rental?

I discovered a lot of shops in my neighbourhood have been closed down recently. They included Blowfish, La Sosta, Delifrance and many others. Could not afford the high revised rent?

I could not reach 蘭 for 3 consecutive days and started to 發茅. At last, 硬漢 helped me to call 翠鳥 to find out the whereabouts of 蘭. According to 翠鳥, 蘭 is currently having a trip with some 同鄉. ???

Went to my villa in Foshan today. Sowed some seeds of Everlasting Daisy into my front-yard. See whether they will grow.

PS:
(1) N's sister-in-law got a fake CNY20 note today. No wonder people say everything is fake in China except swindlers. (Last time when I was in SH, I kidded about buying a fake egg as 手信.)
(2) I could not get in touch with 蘭 today. Her mobile phone was turned off for the whole day.

Not My Day

Today is not my day. The visual and audio effects of my new flat TV is disappointing. Need to buy an extra cable and fine-tune the TV later.

Could not buy the ink cartridge for my Epson printer.

Then went to Marlboro (in Landmark) trying to buy a new wrist-belt for my watch. Found out the shop had been closed down. When?

And then waited 45 minutes for a few pieces of sushi.

Interesting Formula

A colleague told me an interesting formula today. It is about the age of 二奶.
當男人包二奶, 二奶的年齡通常是男人的年齡除2加7. Quite accurate!

大出血

Today spent a lot of money. Eating alone cost me almost $800. (Breakfast $22+ Lunch $330 + High-tea $150 + Dinner $280 = Total $782.)

But the biggest item was...
a LCD flat TV, worth $12,xxx!

In order to save money and be more healthy, I am intending to pack sandwich for tomorrow's lunch. And I could find Garden's selected grain bread (recommeded by 硬漢) in Park'n.

Floating Frog

Is it possible to levitate a man on earth (not in space)? The answer is yes.

A few years ago, some European researchers did a very interesting experiment of levitating a living frog.

How?

First of all, we need to know about the properties of materials. There are 3 kinds of materials with magnetic responses. They are called ferromagnetic, paramagnetic and diamagnetic materials respectively.

Ferromagnetic materials are strongly attracted by a magnetic force. The elements iron, nickel, cobalt and gadolinium are such materials.

Paramagnetic materials are metals that are weakly attracted to magnets. Aluminum and copper are such metals.

Certain materials are diamagnetic, which means that when they are exposed to a strong magnetic field, they induce a weak magnetic field in the opposite direction. In other words, they weakly repel a strong magnet. Bismuth and carbon graphite are the strongest diamagnetic materials. Other materials including water, diamond, wood and living tissue displace weak diamagnetic properties. Incidentally, this is the most general principle of Mohter Nature: whenever one tries to change something settled and quiet, the reaction is always negative. So, according to this principle, the disturbed electrons in the matter's particles create their own magnetic field and as a result the atoms behave as little magnetic needles pointing in the direction opposite to the applied magnetic field.

In conclusion , if we expose a man to a huge vertical magnetic field, the atoms inside the man will demonstrate the diamagnetic response. It is possible that this repulsive magnetic force (directed upwards) can be strong enough to compensate the force of gravity (directed downwards). Whether the subject will feel uncomfortable is another question.

PS: There are 4 forces in the Universe. They are gravitational, electro-magnetic, strong nuclear and weak nuclear forces.

Special Day

Someone had a flu today and her voice became so terrible.
Sickly

Today also happens to be 蘭's 26th birthday.
Happy Birthday

I had no choice but to accompany someone.

A Little Discovery

I found out I could use a magnet to attract a 10c coin or a 50c coin, but not the other denominations.

Then, I tried to find out the coinage material. And the findins are as follows:

10c = 鍍黃銅鋼 = alloy of copper+tin+steel
20c = 黃銅和鎳合金 = alloy of copper+tin+nickel
50c = 鍍黃銅鋼 = alloy of copper+tin+steel
$1 = 红銅和鎳合金 = alloy of copper+zinc+nickel
$2 = 红銅和鎳合金 = alloy of copper+zinc+nickel
$5 = 红銅和鎳合金 = alloy of copper+zinc+nickel
$10 = 雙金屬(黃銅和鎳合金/红銅和鎳合金) inner circle = alloy of copper+tin+nickel; outer rim= alloy of copper+zinc+nickel

Market Sentiment

It was strange to see the HSI rose through 16,000 pts today. I think I shouldn't use logic thinking but should just follow the market. No more fundamental analysis or technical analysis. The trend is your friend.

Kids

Someone always feels unhappy about not having our own kids. Honestly speaking, I don't want to have any offspring. First, it would be a big commitment and a heavy burden to me. Second, I think life itself is difficult. Third, I believe she is too weak to bear a baby.

Probably because she doesn't have her own child, she is very occupied by the well-being of her nephew, which I don't understand. We always argue over it as I don't want her to be so concerned about him. I won't give a damn to the future of my nephew or nieces. 兒孫自有兒孫福...
