Had dinner with 硬漢. I was impressed by his high-fat diet. He has an abnormal attitude towards gastromomy. I wish he had the same attitude towards sex.

Someone did not get an counter-offer from her current "cheap" employer. 老張 quitted his job. G has resigned yesterday. R has just accepted the offer from the Swiss distributor. 小劉 is going down to Singapore this weekend to look for an apartment. 阿賓 is exploring the possibility to stay with us.

Because I had left the office early yesterday, I had to work non-stop today to clear up my backlog. I finished all my work at 9:00pm. It is a hard day's life.

Putting everything aside, I went to see P. One more time, I asked her for her future plan. There was a trace of 憂鬱 in her eyes. Obviously, she didn't know how to respond to the "difficult" question I posed to her.

Because of the rush and the fear deep in my heart, I was very very tired after the encounter.

I dreamed of P the day before yesterday. In the dream, there were many people including 經理, his PA; 硬漢 and his family. P was quite shy in front of so many people because of her background.

I called P last night. I told her I was very busy and could not come to see her. I asked her if there were a lot of customers after the ad and if everything was ok to her. She told me she was fine. She said she would take good care of herself and wait for me. She further suggested me only to visit her at my convenience. When I enquired whether she had enough money for her daily expenses, she replied she still had some money but might need to borrow from her friends later. She recapped that I didn't need to worry too much about her.

The whole conversation was quite pleasant. We missed one another.

PS: P told me 翠鳥 had met some swindlers a few days earlier.

Today is 大暑. Traditional wisdom tells us it is the hottest day in the year. Yet, I think the weather today is fine. Much better than Jul 18 and 19.

This year a lot of changes has happened to me and the people around me:
(1) Someone has just accepted a job offer from one of my previous employers
(2) R will return to HK to take up a position of financial controller with a Swiss distributor
(3) After 2 years' unemployment, K has got a new job which requires extensive travelling
(4) 小劉 is going down to Singapore to be a trader
(5) 老張 is going to be a team head (product control) in a notorious bank
(6) G is quitting her job in Sydney
(7) A young Filipina is replacing 阿賓 as our maid

There are still many interesting changes to 泰雯、虹、E、Joy, etc

In his blog a few days ago, 硬漢 said he would be lonely for the rest of his life. I don't think so. I think he hasn't exercised his option to happiness. First of all, I don't believe in the past 40 years or so, there is no woman deserving his love. Secondly, as I always tell him, the process is more enjoyable than the result. However, he keeps on thinking the ending is important...

He still has a choice. I don't. I am no longer a free man. Freedom is an interesting thing. Like air, you won't treasure it until you lose it.

Yesterday I got a big dinner with 8 ex-colleagues of my beloved organization. I would not say it was the last supper. However, it is certainly more and more difficult to gather so many chaps and chaplets.
